Way to go Cavaliers!
This months objective was to reach out to the seniors of Montclair High School as we met in their very own career center. The purpose of our visit as a Career Institute ambassador was to expose these college ready seniors to the CI successful Hospitality Program and introduce to them what experiences they could acquire and benefits if they enrolled. Having Francis who was a recent graduate of the summer’s hospitality program and alumni of Montclair High, was a huge asset in establishing credibility and also meeting the students on a personal level.Throughout our session we were surprised by the amount of students who immediately showed interest and eagerness in enrolling. On my behalf of the presentation,I elaborated on my personal experiences as a graduating senior and the pressure of searching for a job, as well as making my education the number one priority.I also elaborated on the exciting opportunity of being able to train and enhance their customer service skills at the beautiful Sheraton Fairplex Hotel & Conference Center. At the end of our presentation,I was truly eccentric as an ambassador to share my passion for the Career Institute and to see all these seniors prepare for their journeys ahead. Carlos,an attendee of our Hospitality Program session stated “ Wow!I did not know there were so many opportunities in the Hospitality Industry, this could defiantly be a great start to my career path”. I also had a peer of Carlos by the name of Stephanie stop by and tell me “Do you think I can have your business card and more info about the program so I can tell my friends who missed out”.This was defiantly a great learning experience as a CI ambassador because it was my first time engaging with graduating high school students and receiving great feedback about the program. It was also an eye opener to see how fast time flies and how not too long ago I was in their exact footsteps.
